Morgan Caplane Equestrian Enterprises

A Bay Area native, Morgan Caplane is excited to be returning home after working as a rider in Holland since the fall of 2010.  Morgan's riding career spans the hunter, jumper, and equitation rings and includes horses of all ages and types. In addition to over a decade of riding and competing on the West Coast, Morgan has lived and competed on the East Coast and in Europe. Morgan's experiences enable her to weave the discipline of the European training system into the fun of riding and showing in the Bay Area.

As a junior and an amateur, Morgan earned numerous High Jr. Jumper and High AO Jumper championships, including Menlo Charity Horse Show, Portuguese Bend, High Desert Classic, and Pickwick Equestrians.  She also competed in numerous Grand Prixs, including a 4th place finish in the $30,000 Grand Prix of Pebble Beach aboard her mare, Whiskey Girl.  In 2007, the pair were also part of the winning 1.40m Jr/Am Prix de Nations Team at Spruce Meadows representing the NorCal Hunter Jumper Association.  In 2008, Morgan qualified two horses -- Whiskey Girl and Eezy -- for the 1.40m Jr/Am Prix de Nations TeamSpruce Meadows team.  Morgan has also had many successes with young horses; she has qualified for both the 5 year old and the 6 year old finals of the West Coast Young Jumper Championships.  During her first year at Wellesley College, Morgan founded the Wellesley Equestrian Team.  She served as Team Captain from that time until her senior year, when she was awarded the first ever 'Captain of the Year' award by the coaches and captains of the ten teams in Wellesley's athletic region.  During her time at Wellesley, Morgan also qualified for and competed in the New England Medal Finals and Massachusetts Medal Finals in both 2000 and 2002.  Most recently, working as a professional rider and barn manager in Europe, she maintained a rigorous show schedule, riding and showing horses of all ages and levels.

Through the years, Morgan has had the privilege of working with many extraordinary horsemen and women, including Heidi Cowley, Gry McFarlane, Duncan McFarlane, Gilbert Bockmann, Mandy Porter, Craig Starr, Elizabeth (Lumpy) Kilham, Alan Waldman, and Julian Kraaij.

Morgan values a fun and confidence-building approach to training both horses and riders.  She knows first hand how special the connection between horse and rider can be, and she feels privileged to have the opportunity to help others develop those connections.  Morgan is accepting horses and riders of all levels for full training or individual lessons. She is also available to ride and show sale horses.  For more information please contact Morgan Caplane at 510-589-8302
